Esther Sokolow is a Los Angeles-based film and television editor. She is currently editing HBO tv show IT: Welcome to Derry for sibling duo Andy and Barbara Muschietti. This marks the third project she’s collaborated on with them — beginning as 1st assistant editor on New Line Cinema’s IT: Chapter Two and then as additional editor on DC’s The Flash.

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Esther moved to California to attend Chapman University, where she majored in Film Editing and French. In 2015, she was selected as an honorary intern for the American Cinema Editors (ACE) Internship Program.

Prior to moving into the editing chair, Esther also worked as an assistant editor on feature films Rampage, Bloodshot, Fall, The Guilty, Stronger, and Rememory. She also worked vendor-side at VFX company Method Studios as their in-house VFX Editor on Guardians of the Galaxy and San Andreas. She is comfortable cutting in a variety of editing platforms, including Avid, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, and DaVinci Resolve.

Esther cares deeply about giving back and spends her spare time mentoring up-and-coming assistant editors and editors. As a member of MPEG’s Apprenticeship and Growth Committee, she also helped to revamp the apprenticeship classification into the Apprentice Editor Pilot Program so projects can more easily hire an apprentice.
